These terms cover your use of the CalmProbate website. Nothing is for sale on this site yet. When the CalmProbate tool becomes available it will have its own separate terms, which you will be asked to agree to before you use it.

This site provides general information about applying for probate in England and Wales. CalmProbate is not a firm of solicitors and does not provide legal advice. It is a self-help tool that helps you complete and submit your own forms; it is not a substitute for advice from a solicitor. Please read our full disclaimer, which forms part of these terms.

Using the site

You may read, print and share the guides on this site for your own use. You must not:

  • republish substantial parts of this site as your own content;
  • use the site or its content in any way that is unlawful or fraudulent;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, or interfere with its operation or security.

Automated access for the purpose of search indexing and AI-assisted answering is welcome; see our robots.txt and llms.txt. We ask that you attribute and link back where you quote us.

Form names such as PA1P, PA1A and IHT400 are HM Courts & Tribunals Service and HM Revenue & Customs forms; we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of either body.

We take care to make this site accurate and we cite our sources with the date we checked them. Even so, the information here is general, rules change, and the rules that apply to an estate are usually those in force at the date of death. You are responsible for checking the current position on GOV.UK before you act, and for the contents of any application you make.
